Bowfin will be offering 1-2 people the
opportunity to join our team for the 2018 season. Successful candidates will obtain experience
working in the terrestrial and aquatic environments for a wide variety of
sectors with an opportunity for advancement.
Start date is anticipated to be
February-March 2018. Interviews will be
conducted between November 2017 and February 2018.
The positions involve both field and office
work. Field will include both day and
nighttime surveys and may require occasional work on weekends.
The bulk of the work would take place in
eastern Ontario (between Peterborough, Renfrew and Cornwall).
- A diploma
or degree in ecology, biology, or natural resources with a minimum of 2
years work experience in terrestrial or aquatic ecology.
drivers license and Pleasure Craft Operator Card are a must.
- Outdoors experience (knowledge of orienteering, comfortable working
in rivers and on boats and in variable weather conditions)
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.
The following certificates are considered
- Class 2 Electrofishing
of Natural Resources and Forestry certification(s) in Ecological Land
Classification and Ontario Wetland Evaluation Systems.
of Transportation R.A.Q.S. qualified Fisheries Compliance during
Contracts, Natural Sciences, and/or Environmental Inspection during
Stream Assessment Protocol certification
in Fish identification and handling
Benthological Society (NABS) Certified Family Level Taxonomist
in data collection, natural environment assessments, mitigation and
to demonstrate knowledge in the identification of flora and fauna
completing monitoring of construction projects
verbal and written communications
to work on your own and with a team
understanding of relevant provincial and federal legislations and policies
Bowfin Environmental Consulting was
incorporated in 2002 and provides high quality of service in the terrestrial
and aquatic environments for both the public and private sectors. Since it was established it has completed
projects within Ontario, Quebec Nunavut, and Northwest Territories. The types of projects vary greatly from year
to year. Lately, there has been a focus on small waterpower projects, quarries,
subdivisions, solar facilities, post-construction monitoring for wind
facilities and road construction. We
frequently work with the proponent from project conception through construction
and into post-construction monitoring.
We are situated in Cornwall, Ontario. Cornwall is a located on the St. Lawrence
River, about 1-hour drive form Montreal and Ottawa. It is a small City that offers many outdoor
activities (fishing, hiking, golfing, skiing).
